Kobus is a qualified professional engineer with more than 23 years’ experience in the fields of water supply and sanitation engineering.
He specialises in the feasibility assessment and economic optimisation of bulk transfer and hydropower schemes and has extensive experience in condition assessment and the pro-active management of bulk pipeline systems to extend the service life of critical ageing infrastructure and reduce water loss. He has further mastered the field of hydro-dynamic (surge) analysis and performs complex analysis, detailed hydraulic design, pump and valve selection and specification, functional process design and the definition of operating philosophies as part of the detail design of bulk transfer systems. Kobus has a keen interest in field validations to confirm the hydraulic performance of pipeline systems and validate designs.
He is experienced in the management of complex design processes, compilation of contract documentation and project implementation and management. He uses his vast experience to advise clients during all stages of the project life cycle by blending well-grounded theoretical knowledge with a practical understanding of the challenges faced during construction as well as during the service life of an asset.
Kobus has presented and lectured both locally and internationally on hydraulic analysis, condition assessment and pro-active pipeline management
